There's a precedent set here!)Īctually, why not try "nuzlocking" a game that isn't a Pokémon one? Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest IX, Dragon Quest Monsters (any of them), Magi Nation, any of the pokemon-alikes that were everywhere in the '90s? Something new might be just the ticket to make you want to run some more.Īlternatively, yeah, weird-ass rulesets or even, say, Pokegen could help. So more of a let's play than a traditional Nuzlocke? (dude, don't forget about the original.
This isn't irritating enough unless you're forced into something you don't want to do XD (try set mode) Ooh, let's add in another ban! (possible a ban on TM moves.) Hm, what about a speed element? (maybe create checkpoints for yourself and only give yourself a predetermined amount of time to get from one to the other) (3 items per battle, perhaps, X items and status healers included) If you find the early game easy, the first thing that comes to mind is a level cap.
Let's play pokemon sacred gold egglocke ep.#23 free#
Take/leave whatever you want and feel free to modify them to suit your taste, of course. For now, I'm just going to suggest some rules that I think might spice up early game. A hacked version could be cool, they're usually more challenging than vanilla games and sometimes better paced. Of course, you don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to, that's what's fun about it. You're sadder to see someone close to you die than someone who you just know on a first name basis so you'll do everything in your power to save them. While I certainly don't think it's necessary to give your Pokemon characters, it adds to the game in a way. I feel like the forum focuses more on stories than the challenge to me, which seems kind of odd considering Nuzlocke is popular for being a self-imposed challenge in a game.? It's certainly more exciting, but I don't feel not characterising Pokemon is weird or wrong in any way, and I don't think it's the main reason to do the challenges. It's still an adventure, it's just not a documented one. In and of itself it's still a really interesting self-imposed challenge, and for me it's all about seeing who will survive to the end, the scrapes we face, the close calls. I don't think most of the runs are bad or anything, but not everything about Nuzlocke has to be about deep involved characters. I feel like this forum is almost entirely about "omg write runs and stories and shit" while the actual mechanics of the challenge don't really seem to matter apart from the Challenge Discussion section, which is why I keep myself here mainly. I don't really give my Pokemon characters as such, but I still bond with them in a sense and feel kind of disappointed when they die. I suspect ShinyFlygon does it just for the self-imposed challenge. I disagree with Nuzlockes being entirely about the characters.
